Ablefor is built so your voice and your words stay on your Mac. Here is exactly what stays private, what our services can and can't see, and how organizations keep processing under their own control.
What stays on your Mac
Normal dictation audio, transcripts, the text you dictate, the drafts Ablefor creates, and the documents you work on are processed on your Mac by default. Dictation does not save raw audio for history. Meeting transcription is a separate opt-in workflow: it may use temporary local audio while creating the transcript, then deletes that audio by default unless you or your organization choose a retention period. Your content is never collected as telemetry.
What our services can see
To start a trial, activate a license, download language packs, or check for updates, Ablefor connects to our services. Those services handle your license and downloads only — they never receive your audio, transcripts, prompts, or documents. After setup, your license is checked on your Mac, and everyday use can work offline.
Diagnostics without your content
If you send a diagnostic report or support bundle, it describes permissions, packs, and errors — never what you said or wrote. Logs record what happened, not your content.
For organizations: processing in your control
Organizations can configure Ablefor to run capabilities through their own approved, private infrastructure. This is optional and happens only when your organization sets it up — it is never on by default.
Nothing leaves without your say-so
Ablefor does not send your work to outside or hosted AI services by default. Any processing beyond your Mac is optional and explicitly configured. If a route is not available, Ablefor tells you and stops — it never quietly sends your work somewhere else.
You stay in control
You do not need to understand models, servers, or infrastructure to trust Ablefor. The private defaults are built in, so the safe choice is the default choice.
